A social media content creator who owes a nearly $4 million defamation judgment to Cardi B won court approval of a bankruptcy plan that provides the Grammy-winning rapper a reduced amount for now.

YouTube entertainment blogger Latasha Transrina Kebe will pay Cardi B, whose legal name is Belcalis Marlenis Almánzar, nearly $1.2 million over five years, according to a Chapter 11 plan approved Monday by Judge Paul G. Hyman of the US Bankruptcy Court for the Southern District of Florida.

Kebe also agreed to not make derogatory or disparaging statements about the rapper and her family in any public form.

The case is among high-profile examples in recent years of defamation judgments that led to bankruptcies, including those of Rudy Giuliani and Alex Jones.

Cardi B previously asked the court to throw out Kebe’s bankruptcy or convert it to a liquidation proceeding, arguing she abused reorganization rules by creating offshore trusts to try to hide assets. But the rapper withdrew that motion last week after the sides agreed to bankruptcy plan terms, including the nondisparagement clause.

Cardi B won a $3.9 million defamation ruling against Kebe in 2022. Kebe filed for bankruptcy in May 2023, after the rapper began garnishing her money, according to court records.

Kebe’s plan includes structured repayments of a portion of the defamation judgment and payments for other general unsecured creditors over five years that equal a 30.1% recovery, according to Kebe’s bankruptcy attorney, Chad Van Horn of Van Horn Law Group PA. Van Horn called the court’splan approval a milestone that addresses the interests of all the parties involved.

“By reaching this agreement, all parties can avoid prolonged litigation—fulfilling bankruptcy’s essential purpose,” Van Horn told Bloomberg Law in an email. “This resolution also enables Ms. Kebe to focus on her work while repaying creditors in an organized manner.”

Cardi B isn’t prevented from seeking the remainder of the judgment after the five-year plan is completed, according to court papers. She can also move to dismiss Kebe’s bankruptcy or request a liquidation if the blogger breaks the nondisparagement clause or defaults on payments.

Kebe is also required to give yearly income tax returns to Cardi B’s attorney and a bankruptcy trustee, and must disclose new financial interests, according to the plan.

On her “unWinewithTashaK” YouTube channel and other social media platforms, Kebe falsely accused Cardi B of having herpes and HPV and claimed the rapper was a prostitute, among other accusations, according to court filings.

Cardi B is represented by Meland Budwick PA.

The case is Latasha Transrina Kebe , Bankr. S.D. Fla., No. 23-14082, hearing 2/24/25 .
