About Joshua Dobin

Joshua Dobin, partner with Meland Budwick, P.A, assists clients in troubled real estate situations and routinely represents real estate developers, investors and purchasers in all types of distressed situations and non-distressed real estate. Joshua also focuses his practice on bankruptcy, reorganization and out-of-court workouts, including the representation of debtors, creditor committees, investors, secured lenders and trustees.

Joshua serves as post confirmation Plan Administrator for the Puig bankruptcy estates, at one time the largest condominium converter in Florida.

Bankruptcy

Served as Chapter 11 counsel to IT’SUGAR LLC, a specialty candy retailer with approximately 100 stores and over 700 employees across 28 states. Through extensive negotiations with dozens of landlords, IT’SUGAR was able to obtain millions of dollar in pre and post-petition rent relief, restructure vendor debt, and successfully confirm a Chapter 11 plan of reorganization.

Represented private investor in connection with acquisition of several portfolios of triple-net lease restaurant properties located in six states from an institutional Seller and negotiating and closing of CMBS loan as part of transaction.

Successfully reorganized a 147-unit condominium hotel in South Florida in a chapter 11 reorganization proceeding. Successfully negotiated with multiple levels of secured and unsecured creditors to obtain a highly favorable result.

Represented Creditors Committee in Cabi Downtown, LLC (Everglades by the Bay); twin 49 story downtown Miami condominium towers with over $200 million in debt.

Represented 3900 Biscayne, LLC, the owner of the property formerly known as the Channel 10 property on Biscayne Blvd. in Miami, Florida, in its chapter 11 reorganization from which the Debtor emerged with a confirmed plan after successfully resolving its disputes with BB&T Bank and its other creditors, avoiding foreclosure and preserving equity for the benefit of equity holders.

Represented Sagamore Partners, Ltd., the owner of Sagamore, The Art Hotel located on South Beach, Florida, in its chapter 11 reorganization from which the Debtor emerged with a confirmed plan and successfully reinstated its CMBS secured loan obligations, while avoiding the payment of more than $8 million in default interest and attorneys' fees over the objection of the special servicer, LNR Partners, LLC. Successfully avoided foreclosure and preserved equity for the benefit of the Debtor’s principals.

Represented Philp J. von Kahle as Assignee in the Assignment for the Benefit of Creditors of Auto 7, Inc., filed in the Circuit Court of the 11th Judicial Circuit, in and for Broward County, Florida. Represented Assignee in connection with efforts to stabilize and operate the company, market and sell assets and review claims and causes of action in efforts to obtain a recovery for creditors.
