About Alexander E. Brody

Alexander E. Brody, an associate with Meland Budwick, P.A., focuses his practice on commercial litigation, bankruptcy, financial fraud, trade secrets, and intellectual property matters.

Prior to joining the firm, Alex served as a judicial intern for the Honorable Thomas Logue of the Third District Court of Appeals and as a legal intern for the United States Securities and Exchange Commission. Alex was also a fellow at the University of Miami School of Law Startup Practicum where he provided pro bono assistance to clients in selecting and forming business entities, and drafted employee and joint venture agreements.

Alex received his Juris Doctor and MBA from the University of Miami. While in law school, he served as the Online Editor of the International and Comparative Law Review and was a member of the law school’s Honor Council.

Alex is a board and committee member of the Young Leadership Jewish Federation and the Miami Country Day School alumni board.

Represented a Chapter 7 trustee in multiple individual debtor cases, assisting with asset identification, conducting Rule 2004 discovery, and negotiating settlements.

Bankruptcy, Financial Fraud

Represented Christina Lovato, the Chapter 7 bankruptcy trustee in Reno, Nevada for DC Solar Solutions, Inc. and certain affiliates (DC Solar). Jeffrey Carpoff and others pleaded guilty to perpetrating a $1 billion Ponzi scheme through DC Solar.

Commercial Litigation

Prosecuted a $33 million avoidance action against one of the largest privately held businesses in Nevada and pursued a nine-figure tort claim against a national professional services firm. Prepared motions, coordinated with experts, and conducted expert discovery.

Commercial Litigation

Represented the Piper Aircraft Corporation Irrevocable Trust established to compensate victims of aircraft incidents involving Piper aircraft planes before 1995. The firm handles all litigation for the Trust globally.

Represented 40% of owners of an international wine company in litigation against management asserting breach of fiduciary duty and appointment of a receiver.
