Southern District Bankruptcy Bar Elects James Moon as President and Daniel Gonzalez as second Vice President

MIAMI – James C. Moon, an associate with the law firm of Meland Budwick, P.A., has been elected as president of Bankruptcy Bar Association for the Southern District of Florida. Additionally, fellow firm associate Daniel N. Gonzalez has been elected as the organization’s second vice-president.
Incoming President James C. Moon is a member of Meland Budwick, P.A.’s Restructuring and Bankruptcy Group. His areas of practice include creditor’s rights, workouts, bankruptcy, and varying commercial litigation transactions. Moon has worked on a number of Chapter 11 proceedings and related matters, including client representation in cross-border insolvency, intellectual property and real estate actions. Prior to joining the firm in 2008, Moon was an associate at Bilzin Sumberg Baena Price & Axelrod, LLP.
Moon earned his Juris Doctor degree, with distinction, from University of Connecticut, where he was a member of the National Moot Court Team. Moon received his Bachelor’s degree from University of Connecticut.
Newly elected Second Vice-president Daniel N. Gonzalez focuses his practice on bankruptcy litigation, financial restructuring and reorganization, creditors’ rights, bankruptcy trustee representation, federal and state court receiverships, and complex commercial litigation. In 2009, Gonzalez was named a “Top Up and Comer” by South Florida Legal Guide. In 2008, Gonzalez received the “Put Something Back Pro Bono Award” for his philanthropic work as chairperson of the Bankruptcy Bar Association Pro Bono Committee.
Gonzalez received his Juris Doctor degree from the University of Florida. While in law school, Gonzalez served as Clerk for the Honorable Gisela Cardonne-Ely, and participated in the Securities and Exchange Commission Summer Honors Program. Gonzalez earned his Bachelor’s degree from Boston College.
